I read the rest of this series a really long time ago so I didn't remember a lot of it but I wanted to finish this last book. I should have known when I didn't really remember this series that it wasn't one I really liked. This book was just okay. I think the most frustrating thing was that the parts of the book with the most "meat" were all off stage. When the heroine finally remembered what happened it was off stage. When the hero and his relatives caught the bad guy it was off stage. The fact that the villain was so horribly obvious didn't help either. Also why do they all still have Scottish accents if they are from Maine? I also didn't really get the fight at the end. I'm not sure why she got so mad at him and why he stayed away.Tags : Amazon.com: Highlander for the Holidays (Jove Book) (9780515150087): Janet Chapman: Books,Janet Chapman,Highlander for the Holidays (Jove Book),Berkley,0515150088,Romance - Contemporary,Christmas stories,Love stories,Maine,Scots - Maine,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,Adult & contemporary romance,FICTION Holidays,FICTION Romance Contemporary,FICTION Romance Holiday,FICTION Romance Paranormal General,Fiction,Fiction - Romance,Fiction-Romance,MASS MARKET,RomanceModern,Romance: Modern, fantasy books;romance novels;scotland;romance;fantasy;romance books;romantic suspense;contemporary romance;highlander romance;fantasy romance;paranormal;contemporary;paranormal romance;relationship books;dating;relationships;relationship;women;books for women;suspense books;suspense;time travel;dating and relationships;classic literature;literature;ghosts;series;magic;trilogy;family;family life;psychic;chick lit;supernatural;historical romance;historical;thrillers;thriller;historical fiction, fantasy books; romance novels; scotland; romance; fantasy; romance books; romantic suspense; contemporary romance; highlander romance; fantasy romance; paranormal; contemporary; paranormal romance; relationship books; dating; relationships; relationship; women; books for women; suspense books; suspense; time travel; dating and relationships; classic literature; literature; ghosts; series; magic; trilogy; family; family life; psychic; chick lit; supernatural; historical romance; historical; thrillers; thriller; historical fiction
Highlander for the Holidays Jove Book Janet Chapman Books Reviews
In eleventh century Scotland, Fiona Gregor was raped and died. For the next millennia she was a hawk helping her siblings heal fractured souls.
In the twenty-first century Maximilian "Mac" Oceanus the wizard returns Fiona to her former female human form. However, all those centuries she never lost the horrific memory of the brutal assault. Her brothers fear that Fiona not only has never moved on passed the attack but will be unable to cope with twenty-first century life. Still they feel they need to leave her alone to do so; like tossing a child into a pool to learn to swim. They arrange for her to stay in am apartment owned by a friend, former Afghan veteran now a New England lobsterman Trace Huntsman. When demons attack Mac, Fiona and Trace are caught in the crossfire.
The latest Midnight Bay Warrior romantic urban fantasy (see Moonlight Warrior and Dragon Warrior) showcases Janet Chapman incredible talent as she combines humor with suspense and romance starring two wounded warriors. The story line is character driven as Trace and Fiona find love but both understands she needs to find her land and sea legs after soaring for centuries. Their leisurely relationship pace is abruptly ended with the Big Mac attack. Mystical Warrior is a superb entry in one of the best urban fantasy series on today's market.

I seriously love the Spellbound Falls Series by Janet Chapman. Actually I have a thing for all of her books. Not because they are this mind numbing thing or an action packed story that leaves you on the edge of your seat or wrapped up in intense story lines.. nope I love this series because Janet Chapman truly believes in magic. Oh sure she may not believe in the magic that she talks about in her book but she believes in the magic that surrounds us and it shows..
Julia Campbell has spent the past few years holding her family together. Her abusive alcoholic father has been practically holding her hostage since she returned home after her divorce. With a malicious sibling of her ex spreading rumors around town about her and a weakling brother who is starting to take after their father all she wants to do is make it until her sister escapes to college. Then she too will be free. Fortunately, she has been able to maintain her job at Nove Mare Resort and she is hoping (fingers crossed) that she will be able to get the job as director at the Ingelnook Resort. She just needs to hang on...
Nicholas has spent his entire life protecting the princess Carolina (from Courting Carolina) but now that she is married and no longer his to protect he has spent the past year as serving as Director of Security for the Nova Mare and Inglenook resorts. He finds he really enjoys the current century and is looking forward to more of the same.. That is until he runs into Julia being threatened and maybe even robbed by a group of young thugs (swell brother she has). Over the next couple of days he realizes that she is more desperate than it seems.. and he feels the need to help.
Julia and Nicholas are pretty amazing individuals... Julia has to learn to accept help.. She is a strong woman who has managed to turn her housekeeping job into a personal service.. adding small touches to the cabins that bring the same customers back asking for her over and over again. With her initiative she finds herself with plenty of options and a way to save both her sister and herself.. She just has to get over that little (grand canyon sized) crush she seems to be developing for Nicholas..
Watching these two figure it out is just fun.. They have some interesting communication issues.. I mean he's a man from Atlantis and she is just a girl from Maine.. Magic abounds at in Spellbound Falls but not everyone realizes it.. Some people just go about their daily lives and enjoy what is, without even realizing that there is magic. When Julia starts to figure it out.. well, she doesn't freak out..
Check out this series.. it's a lot of fun..

Chapman loves her time-traveling warriors and the community they are building in the current age. As with her other books, there are travails and tribulations which get resolved in a satisfactory way by the end of the book.
Julia Campbell works at keeping a low profile because of her reputation, but also is employed at Nova Mare where she adds her unique brand of style to the resort cabins. She struggles with small town life and vicious gossip spurred by her past husband before he left town. Her father is the town drunk. She just wants to survive and protect her siblings, and she definitely doesn't have time for man, but less a hero. Will she resist Nicholas and stay lonely or will she take a chance?
Nicholas is very persistent and plots how to capture her love. Overall, he was a little less "old-fashioned" then most of the other heroes in this series. Loved that he had a herd of cats, who immediately adopted Julia despite her best and repeated efforts to scare them away and out of her life.
