I'm going to start by saying, I'm glad to know that my 4 & 5 pound Chihuahua's, Izzy and Jingles, aren't the only ones that tend to howl when emergency vehicles have their sirens blaring. Turns out Morgan does the same thing also!

I was excited to read this book because Rottweilers are a dog that I have always had some fear of. I have no reason to have that fear, I think, because I haven't ever had any occurances with this breed of dog, but big dogs kind of scare me, especially if I haven't known them since they were puppies, but anytime my husband has ever mentioned getting a Rottweiler, I have always turned that idea away pretty quickly, simply because of the breed. So I wanted to read this story, since the main dog is a Rottweiler!

When Emmi was still a very young puppy that was still with her doggy mother, she sustained a bite to the jaw and ended up with a broken jaw. The breeder didn't do anything with her, and Emmi ended up in a foster home with Barbara and Ray. They decided they couldn't just send her to another home, so they adopted her, which I think is AMAZING of them because of all the surgeries and stuff Emmi would have to endure in her life. There aren't many people out there that I know that would do that, and I just think it's awesome of them.

There were many times while reading this book, I had to laugh. Emmi and Izzy "write" to the readers in their perspectives, and while Izzy is a Terrier, she could be a twin to my Chihuahua named Isabella (Izzy for short). Their mannerisms are so much alike it's not even funny. If my Izzy could talk, I pictured her saying so many of the same things that Izzy in the book "said".

There's one part of the book, where Emmi comes into heat for the first time, and it's mentioned that they get boys XL underwear and put them on her backwards for her tail to have room to wiggle. I am assuming that the reason for the need for underwear is because she's not properly able to clean herself as a dog with a truly functioning tongue would be able to. Which I understand. Dogs in heat could most definitely be messy!

This book is definitely a must read for animal lovers. It tugged at my heart strings, made me laugh, made me cry. You can tell they have a HUGE love for fostering dogs. You need to read this book if you're a dog lover, or even an animal lover. You will not regret it!
Having had the honor of helping edit this incredible story of heart and hope I think I must have been the first to read it. I'm not a cryer.. I'm as stoic as the Rottweilers portrayed in this lovely and loving tale however I had to put the manuscript down and take deep cleansing breaths as I've never known such love, compassion and dedication to a living being as Ray and Barbara Boswell Brunner show this brave, trusting and loyal dog. Beautifully written without sacrifice to drama, you will find yourself caught up in a world of powerful emotion. For those of you who loved Ms. Brunner's premier novel Dogma the Zen of Slobber, you will delight in revisiting those cherished 'children' who came before Emmi and of course the 'Terrier-ist' Izzy. You will be brought into the operating theater, witness the surgeries Emmi endured, sit in the waiting room and pray along with her parents as you wait for the outcome. A true and powerful novel sure to touch your hearts forever.
Just as awesome as her first book. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, then leaves you waiting for her next book.
My husband bought me this book for christmas because I follow Emmi on facebook and have wanted this book. I have to say, I absolutely love this book. If you don't have it already, you should definitely buy it, it's a must read.
