I Will Praise You in the Storm The Story of Stephen and Holly Deaubé a Journey of Faith Danny L Deaubé 9781490813059 Books

This book is the story of a family, particularly of two of this family's children, Stephen and Holly, who were born with a liver disease that required organ transplants and eventually claimed their lives.

Sound depressing? Truly it is not! This is a testimony of God's grace and blessing in the midst of life's painful storms. It was a special blessing to me, because I knew the Deaube family long ago, when I was in high school and college. They attended our church, and I babysat Stephen Deaube in the church nursery when he was a tiny child.

I married and moved away before much of this tale took place, and it was both heart-rending and fascinating to read about the Deaube family's experiences during the years following. Holly died in childhood after complications from her liver transplant, but Stephen lived to be a delightful young man with a heart for God and a generous spirit.

I read the book in one evening, and I appreciate so much Dan and Bonnie's desire to share the riches of God's grace that sustained them through so many sorrows and actually strengthened their love for each other.

A quick read, powerful in its message.

I Will Praise You in the Storm The Story of Stephen and Holly Deaubé a Journey of Faith Danny L Deaubé 9781490813059 Books Reviews

I came across this book quite by accident (of course there are no accidents in God's Plan). I was looking forward to connecting on a website with classmates in anticipation of our 50 year class reunion in 2016. Danny Deaube was on the list of classmates and I noticed that someone had commented on a book he had written. What a miracle it was to discover this book!
It is the recounting of a family's journey through all that we parents hope will never happen to us and yet you cannot put the book down because you see that God was in every detail. As other reviewers have noted, have kleenex near by as emotions are laid bare. But this book emphasizes how to live the Christian life and still handle all that may come your way and still glorify God. I have bought this book for my two adult sons as I think it is a blueprint for casting your cares upon God.
You will not come away from the story of Holly and Stephen untouched. Thank you, Danny and Bonnie for sharing the story of your family and your faith in God.
While I may have a unique perspective on this book, having lost a child myself in a similar way, I did get the message the Danny was trying to portray or at least I think I did. We've all heard the sayings "God only gives us what we can handle" or my favorite one "without hope we have nothing". "I Will Praise You in the Storm" is a testament of faith and how without faith in God nothing is truly possible.

In regards to Stephen, the main character but by far not the only one, I found myself wanting to get to know him even more. He has a truly lovable soul and always put other's before himself like a true gentlemen. Stephen's sister Holly was no less compelling of a character in her own right.

I have no negatives on this book even though there were a few spelling error's or words out of place I think that gave me more of a feel as if Danny was sitting across from me just telling me the story in person.

Lastly, this book reminds us not to take God's presence for granted in everything we do in life.
This is a touching and detailed account of the Deaube Family as they traveled through a storm that broke their hearts and yet instilled in them a strong faith in God which carried them through years of pain to peace and joyous hope in a coming reunion. As parents, nothing is worse than watching our children suffer. Dan and Bonnie Deaube walked a road that any parent would dread. In this book Dan Deaube describes how God led him and his wife as they surrendered their will to His. There are times when God says “no”; times when He says “will you trust me even when you don’t understand why?” As they fought to keep Stephen and Holly alive and eventually had to watch them die, they answered ‘yes’ we will trust you; we will praise you through the storm.
I know of no one who is not going through trials of some type. “I Will Praise You In The Storm” is a book which will encourage every believer to keep their eyes fixed on Christ knowing that He will bring them through it. For He wounds, but He binds up; He shatters, but His hands heal. Job 518
This book touched my heart and I know that it will lift up the hearts of all who read it.
I met this author in High School and lost touch with Danny after graduation. When we reconnected, I noted that he had written a book. I immediately wanted to read his book. Not knowing what I was getting into, I started Danny's book and could not put it down until I finished it. This writing is intensely personal. It gives you a look, not only into Danny's family life, but into his simple joys, beliefs and heartaches. It is a wonderfully told story about two of his children who are intensely ill. His closeness with God is probably the only thing that pulled Danny through the days of trial. I Will Praise You In The Storm is written beautifully, simply and from the soul of this amazing man. Danny will give you an understanding of faith and trials and peace and understanding. He will give it at a cost to himself. That is the best gift anyone can give to another.
I would highly recommend this book, but advise having a tissue box handy when you read it.
The book arrived at my house at 5 p.m. I started reading it as soon as I finished supper. I could not put it down and read the whole book before going to bed. Danny L. Deaube has a great way of writing. At times I forgot this was not a novel but a real story of an incredible family. I kept hoping for a different outcome--you know the twist endings we find in novels? But alas, in real life there are few twist endings but Danny kept it real. He never veered from his statement that God is Good--no matter what happened. Danny, you are right. When you turn everything over to God, everything does work out, even if the result isn't quite what we humans wanted. Your book is inspirational and one I will read again and again.
